In 2016, I introduced a $20 minimum fee and it still holds in 2018.

For example, if you bring me a single pair of pants to hem and nothing else to work on, you will be charged $20 for the service.

For larger projects such as alterations to formal wear and home decor, I require a 50% deposit at the first fitting or when you drop off the supplies for the project.

While I ask that you bring all supplies with you, sometimes I will find myself needing something that we did not anticipate at project intake. In this case, a supply fee may be added to your invoice.

These are guidelines. I will provide an estimate before I start the work.

Pants:

Hem

Shirts:

Simple repair or alteration:

Some examples are:

• sew on three buttons
• any single short seam up to 12 inches
• repair hole/tear in work pants or jeans.

Coats:

Replace zipper on waist-length non-leather coat

Favourite thing:

You can’t bear to part with it, but have been well advised to toss it out or let it go. I will give it my best shot so that you get some additional time with the item as well as leave you with a few ideas for salvage. Item must be clean upon arrival.

Formal wear:

Alter/fit formal wear. Some examples are: take a bridesmaid’s dress in, let it out, lengthen it or shorten it. Total cost estimate will be provided at the first fitting. The amount paid for deposit will be deducted from the final invoice. Please bring shoes with you to your appointments.
Alterations are not available for suit jackets.
$45 per hour, plus supply fee.

Teddy bear hospital:

Item will be carefully mended by hand and given priority over other items.

Curtains:

Simple hem of single panel, $10 per panel
Invisible hem of single panel, $15 per panel
Hems for single lined panel, $20 per panel

Linens (including duvet repair), commissions (including custom tablet cases),  and help with your Comicon costumes:

$45 per hour, plus supply fee

Home decor:

A single zippered pillow cover takes approximately 30 minutes to cut and sew. You provide all the supplies for the home decor project. There is a one-hour minimum for home decor projects. Total cost estimate with be provided at project intake. The amount paid for deposit will be deducted from the final invoice. The turnaround time for home decor projects ranges from 4 to 6 weeks as the time I have to work on home decor projects is limited.
